Trendsmap Highlights Local Twitter Trends

It’s interesting to look at trending topics on Twitter to see what’s new and has captured public interest, but Twitter is a big place with millions of tweets flying around. Trendsmap drills down through the data to see local trends.

Trendsmap is a mashup of location-based tweet and a map interface. You can zoom, pan and jump to locales to see what the trending topics are. Clicking on a trending topic pulls up an expanded menu that gives you additional information about the topic, media related to the topic gleaned from the tweets, and of course the tweets themselves beneath the additional information.

Have a great way to put your finger on the local pulse? Let’s hear about it in the comments.
