Windows only: Despite the many great media players out there, MusicBee earns itself a spot high on the list with super tagging, managing, browsing, ripping, syncing and converting powers, all on top of an intuitive interface familiar to any iTunes user.
MusicBee positions itself as the media player for those that want more than what iTunes has to offer, but don’t need the extensive customisation that something like foobar2000 is capable of. Not only does it have the basics that all music managers should have, such as a library manager, extensive tagging features, metadata finding, file organising and CD ripping, it can sync to virtually any device out there (including iPhones and iPod touches), as well as powerful conversion tools and a built-in web browser.
The features are almost too numerous to list — things like built-in Last.fm scrobbling and customisable hotkeys are small, but sure to please unhappy iTunes users. In addition, it sports a UI that is very similar to iTunes, but with a few extra panes like a Quick Finder, web-based players and the coveted “Now Playing” area. Things like this make it a very easy switch — plus, it automatically imports your iTunes library so you can get listening right away. If you’re already happy using something like MediaMonkey or foobar2000, it’s doubtful MusicBee will change your mind — but if you’ve been itching to switch from iTunes with minimal hassle, or you’re sick of the still overly buggy but very similar Songbird, MusicBee is definitely worth a download.
MusicBee is a free download, Windows only.
