Optus Cable Speeds Set To Jump

Telstra’s cable Internet upgrade last year offers 100Mbit/s speeds, but took a while and is still restricted to Melbourne. Optus seems to be moving faster with its own upgrade.

APC reports that Optus is still planning to upgrade its East Coast capital city networks by mid-2010. Optus’ approach to the cable market is often confusing — it has all but abandoned pay TV, for instance — so it’s good to see this choice is still coming. Of course, the real test will be how much extra it tries to charge customers for the extra speed.
