Today’s workspace is a simple and neat workspace created when sitting at a traditional workspace wasn’t an option.
Lifehacker reader Iris Het Viris set up a temporary workspace after an injury and a surgery changed how she worked:
After my herniated disc surgery I wasn’t allowed to sit for long periods of time. To create an impromptu standing desk, I placed my iMac in the livingroom on an IKEA Kullen cabinet.
I tried to make the desk clutter free, you don’t want a cluttered computer desk in the middle of your livingroom. Thumbdrives and necessary cables are in the top drawer of the cabinet.
It’s small and spartan, but it gets the job done and allows Iris to keep working despite post-surgery limitations. For other standing desk workspaces check out this handcrafted standing desk, a coffee table turned standing desk and a standing desk built into a wardrobe.
