Waiting for hard- or soft-boiled eggs to cook is boring enough to put you into a coma. Eggwatchers keeps you amused while your eggs cook, and lets you know when time's up so you can take them off the stove.
This clever website asks questions about what size eggs you're using, if they're right out of the fridge or room temperature, and how firmly you want them cooked. Once you've answered the questions, it'll determine the appropriate cooking time; then just drop your eggs in boiling water and start the timer.
Eggwatchers serves up YouTube videos that match the length of time your eggs need to cook. The videos are pretty random and we saw everything from part of a Simpsons episode to a seven-minute drum solo by Buddy Rich. Once the video ends, your eggs are ready to eat.
One thing to note: If you're going to use this app, some of the videos aren't for kids and there's no way to pause or stop them once they begin. You're only real option is to close the browser window or exit out of the app.
Of course, you can always just set a timer and come back for your eggs when they're done, but then you'd miss out on the app's clever animation and eggs wearing hats. Eggwatchers could actually come in handy for just about anything you need to time in five-to-eight-minute bursts — or you could just, y'know, watch the videos for fun.
