Would Working At Home Suit You?

HomeWorkHere at Lifehacker we regularly look at technology and tactics to make working at home easier and office designs to simplify the process. But there's one issue that planning can't solve: are you actually up to the task?

Our sibling site Babble features a quiz designed for parents contemplating working from home, but many of the issues it raises apply even to singletons thinking of working from the comfort of the spare room. Granted, most of the questions asked in the quiz cover obvious territory, but it's a useful way to focus your thinking if you're contemplating working at home even on a part-time basis. While you're at it, make sure you give thought to how you'll define boundaries between work and the rest of your life.

Quiz: Are you the work-at-home type? [Babble]

As someone who works from home and is forced to work in my bedroom (a 2m x 2m 'cell') i spend most of the day in the one room i cant wait to be able to move my work to an office, although the flex time i get working from home is pretty cool, it also means i never fully switch off when at home.

I agree with Tim. I've been working from home for ten years, and it's not all it's cracked up to be.

I look forward to escaping at weekends... anywhere but home.
