Opera Mobile 10 Beta Available With Tabbed Browsing, Speed Dial

Windows Mobile/Symbian: Opera has released version 10 beta of their popular mobile browser. If you put a lot of miles on your mobile browser, Opera Mobile 10 has quite a few new features and tweaks worth the update.

Mobile browsing is less than ideal and a good mobile web browser will seek to minimise the irritation of using a small screen and less than ideal controls at every chance it can. Opera Mobile 10 beta continues Opera's long tradition of release solid mobile browsers that make tiny keyboards and screens less of a headache.

The new version sports tweaked rendering and support for Opera Turbo — where Opera's servers cache and optimise pages for mobile browsing. While previous versions of Opera Mobile had a form of tabbed browsing it wasn't particularly sleek and intuitive to use. In Opera Mobile 10 you get tabbed browsing via thumbnails across the bottom of the page instead of a tiny little menu button at the top. Fans of Opera's desktop browser will recognise a host of cross-over design elements between the two including the introduction of Speed Dial — if you thought Speed Dial was handy on a desktop browser you really need to try it out on a touch interface phone, it's a welcome addition.

Not exactly timely LH - I've been using it for at least a fortnight if not three weeks.

+1 Kato. What the hell? This may have been news a month ago.
