Mount A Magnetic Spice Rack To Keep Your Spices Accessible

If you're short on space in your kitchen, you can save a bit of it by mounting this DIY magnetic spice rack. It gets your spices off your counters and out of your drawers.

David, a reader at food blog TheKitchn, has a small kitchen and not a lot of space. His solution was to mount a sheet of steel to the wall of his kitchen and use small canning jars with strong neodymium magnets glued to the lids to hang his spices right over his workspace.

While his cost wasn't particularly high for the project—you can see the price of all the parts at the link below—you could make this project even cheaper by recycling the jars instead of purchasing them, and asking around at local metal and welding shops to see if you could get your hands on an inexpensive piece of scrap.

Check out the link below for more pictures and additional information. If you've undertaken your own crafty kitchen hack, let's hear about it in the comments.

Or, you can do what I did and just get metal bonboniere tins cheaply from a wedding supply shop, strong magnets from Jaycar and mount the jars directly on the fridge..magnet sticks to fridge, tin sticks to magnet and no gluing, sheet metal or mounting necessary.
