As part of Sony’s Twilight Football fixture, Australia hosted a match played by teams from the UK and Italy. The game kicked off at dusk on 23rd September and was played against the picturesque surrounds of WA’s iconic Pinnacles Desert, in front about a 100 spectators. Unfortunately for team Italia, the outcome wasn’t quite so attractive.
Despite a hit to the captain’s nads, the UK team—who earned their ticket to Oz after winning their way through a London-based competition—proved too strong for the young, but skilful Italian prancers, winning 17-14. But it was valiant effort by the Azzuri, who managed to stay neck and neck with their much larger Pommy opponents, for much of the match.
The game was one of seven played around the world, to mark the release of Sony’s new Exmor camera range. Both teams included competition winners who were selected after extensive and rigorous YouTube and Twitter tryouts.
