The blank slate of an unfinished attic is too much for a geek to resist—if the trend of attic-to-workspace conversions we've seen in our featured workspace pool is any indicator.
Lifehacker reader DiggerDaMac started with a completely unfinished and uninsulated attic. He finished the space and included some cool features like built-in bookshelves and closets in the eaves to stash his computer gear. The secret computer stash is the reason his computer desk looks so neat—the tower, external hard drives, network storage, and power strips for his power station, are all hidden behind the wall.
While in many cases it would be difficult to really make the odd shape of many attics useful, the small wings that extend off the main room are great play spaces for kids. Not many workspaces we feature sport a model train table and a Hot Wheels stunt track. Check out the pictures below for a closer look at DiggerDaMac's attic workspace.
