MedalFolders Makes Accessing Favorite Folders Quick And Easy

Windows: Quick access to key folders on your system can be a big time saver. MedalFolders puts all your favourite locations two clicks away in the system tray.

After installing MedalFolders, open up the main window from the tray icon and drag and drop your favourite folders to add them. Once you've got all your folders set up, you can access them from a menu by clicking the tray icon to open your folders in a new Explorer window. Despite its name, you can also add executables and other files to MedalFolders to launch or open using their default applications.

The only problem I found while setting up my folders was that MedalFolders didn't want to recognise system folders like My Documents when dragged from the My Computer location. In order to add them, I had to find them in the Windows directory structure and add from there. A minor annoyance, for sure, but one that only has to be dealt with once. MedalFolders is freeware, Windows only.

This application is far from the first to tread in this territory, so let us know how you get to your favourite folders in the comments.

Thats easily done without any app install

1: Make a folder of schorcuts
2: ricght click on the taskbar, go to toolbars -> new toolbar
    3: browse for your folder
4: Unlock your taskbar and resize it to only show the name of the folder and hte expandable button.

Viola! your own clicky menu! I did this years ago for my desktop which i always wanted icon free :)

OK, "True Launch Bar" isn't free but for $20 bucks (US) it's bloody fantastic. It leaves Win 7's jump list for dead. I have it set up with several folders that contain all my office, video, net and pc utilities in pop up fashion. It looks beautiful too and it's very fast responsive and easy to use. I can access any program or document in seconds.
