British Library Sound Archive Offers Rare Recordings

ArchiveRecordingsFancy some music that’s a bit more esoteric than current iTunes chart-toppers? The British Library has an archive of more than 23,000 recordings which anyone can listen to online.

As well as a healthy selection of classical recordings, the archive also has a large number of world music items and some seriously obscure pieces, such as early wax cylinder recordings made by anthropologists. Finding interesting material takes some digging, but it’s a good bookmark to add to your online audio collection.
