The Stylish Ubuntu Desktop

Reader naaamo2004's Ubuntu desktop proves that Linux can be slick, stylish, and functional all at the same time.

The desktop is a combination of:

  • Ubuntu with a custom theme.
  • Avant window navigator with custom icons.
  • Conky with custom scripts for resource usage, clock, and now playing.

    "The main point limiting any customization in Linux is that u only have got conky - a text based configurator ... Sure its the best one out ... but you cannot render an image in it directly.."

    While it is true you can't render images in conky, you can use gtk-desktop-info in the same way as you use conky. The benefit is, it has the ability to render images and embed html/flash elements.
