Gmail Fixes "On Behalf Of" Email Nuisance

Having promised it before, looks like Gmail has finally removed the annoying "on behalf of" message that sometimes appears when you consolidate multiple email accounts using Google.

The Official Gmail blog explains that you now have the option of sending mail via another SMTP server, which eliminates the "on behalf of" message. That might not always be viable, but if the address you're dealing with does allow it, it makes life much simpler and your messages less confusing. Hit the post for the full explanation. Thanks Danny M!

Awesome! Now I can completely switch to Gmail for all my accounts =)

Not quite fixed. If you send from another Gmail address, there are still different Sender: and From: fields, and there's no option in account settings for "Send through gmail.com SMTP servers".

Yeah... that is pretty dissapointing.. was really looking forward to it working with other gmail addresses :(

Aside from the issue mentioned above, this new feature has been a long time coming, and I for one am extremely thankful. An SMTP server that can be used if you don't have one is here:
