Microsoft's latest addition to the local version of its Bing search engine is "hot spots" offering trivia about its background image. So why did New York get highlighted on the first day?
There are plenty of Bing features which Australians didn't get access to at launch, and the hot spots -- which offer trivia links relating to the background picture which changes daily at Bing -- are the first to hit Australia some time after the rest of the world. However, for no obvious reason Microsoft has decided that even though hot spots will feature on Bing.com.au as of today, we'll have to wait until Thursday July 16 to actually see any local images or links. Either way, I'd settle for better results and decent vertical search over random links any day.
