Shortened URLs aren’t going anywhere soon. Creating and sharing them is easy, but previewing where they’re leading you usually requires add-ons or software. Enter webapp Untiny with quick copy-paste or URL tweak solutions, and plenty of optional helper tools.
Like previously mentioned TinyURL Decoder, Untiny extracts the original URL from the shortened one, revealing just where it is you are headed to. Once at Untiny, enter your short URL, and click extract. Untiny supports 103 tiny services, including popular social network picks bit.ly, is.gd, post.ly, snipurl, snurl, and tinyURL. Alternately, Untiny Quick Use lets you utilise your address bar by adding the questionable URL to the end of the Untiny site URL (with a couple of additional characters).
Want to skip the web visit and URL pasting? Untiny almost certainly has you covered. A Firefox search plug-in adds URL decoding to your browser search bar, an Untiny Greasemonkey script offers automatic full page reveal while browsing—and the add-ons don’t stop there. With multiple 3rd party add-ons, you can add Untiny’s functionality to Ubiquity, Linux/Unix, and Google Talk (via a chat bot). There’s also a standalone Mac app, bookmarklets available, and Mac widgets and Windows gadgets are on their way.
