Web site Succeed or else! is a simple service that aims to help motivate you to tackle your goals, employing a very simple approach: They threaten to take your money if you don't succeed.
The service works like this: You tell them what you want to accomplish and when you want to have completed your goal. They review your goal and tell you what the "fine" is for not succeeding. You send the site the money they request, and they hold onto it until you reach your agreed upon goal. If you don't? They keep it.
So just to break it down a little bit: We appreciate the idea behind this site. With that in mind, we can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would use it. We're all about creating stakes in order to motivate yourself, but wouldn't you rather put up that money to someone you know—someone who can also tell whether or not your lying to them about your progress? To be fair, I suppose not wanting to give money to some unknown web site is extra motivating, but as an alternative—if you think this method of raising the stakes would work to motivate you—we suggest just using an acquaintance who you'd hate to give money to. It works both ways. Thanks Sevaan!
