American Airlines Launches Local Web Site

AAFares.jpgPerhaps mindful of new competition from rival airlines, American Airlines has launched a local .au site for the first time. While the site itself isn't that different to the US parent site, it might be worth noting some discount fares from the site, offering returns to some US destinations for $999. While those routes are via Tokyo, it's still a price worth considering if you have a stateside trip coming up.

Although you do have to fly via Tokyo, it's worth knowing that you do get a night's stay at a hotel both ways. And for any Lifehackers worth their socks, you can also stay an extra couple of days in Tokyo and see what's new at the Sony Building.

Wow! The most broken search engine ever! Type in "Brisbane" as a departing city and "Waikiki", "Oahu" or "Hawaii" for a destination and it gives you a completely useless error message. OK, so I tried to refine the search and typed in "Hawaii" in the advanced search and it found an airport in PNG instead! Maybe American Airlines don't need my business, but that's OK, I'll go to V Australia instead ;)

Hmmm - the option via Japan is quite good, but try booking the Direct SYD-LAX flight and see what price you get!!!

    Checking the prices:

    SYD-LAX
    Dep: Mar 20
    Ret: Mar 28

    Expedia.com.au: $1371.24
    AA Website: $2,391.82
