BootRacer Checks Your System's Boot Speed

Windows only: Startup timer utility BootRacer checks your startup speed between reboots, eliminating the need to hold a stop watch while tweaking your machine for faster boot speeds. Once installed, testing your boot speed is as simple as launching BootRacer and clicking the Race It button, which will prompt you for a few settings and then reboot your machine. By default the application is set to run at every boot and display your results with a tray icon balloon, but that can be easily changed in the settings. Once you've got your baseline timing, you should use Gina's complete guide to speeding up your PC's startup to increase your rating—and more importantly, your boot speed. BootRacer is a free download, Windows only. The utility only worked on Windows XP in my testing, but Windows Vista is supposed to be supported—so if you get it working, let us know in the comments.

worked on vista afer i disabled Trend antivirus, but did not
display program or results....used event viewer to see results.
Opening Bootracer, I could view last results, but can't always
open Bootracer...sometimes gets hung up in Processes...have to end process Bootracer.exe. IT'S TOO BUGGY, but if I just use event viewer to view bootracer log when I want to check results and don't worry about the other stuff...I get the info I need. Guess I'll delay antivirus startup, Trend is a resource hog.

got it to work reliably with vista...when setting up race, choose "race in background", uncheck all boxes regarding display of scores or displaying race. open program after startup to view last results. all results are logged to bootrace log which can be viewed in event viewer. i've found results to be accurate. one just has to forget about the program automatically displaying anything.
