Stainless Is Like A Safari Version Of Chrome
Posted by Adam Pash at 6:00 AM on October 1, 2008
Stainless is a free browser demo for OS X based on WebKit and the multi-process ideology behind Google Chrome. It's young and a little feature-light, but until Google officially releases Chrome for the Mac, it could be a nice alternative to the rough-around-the-edges CrossOver Chromium.

@LiquidGravity: One, that is not the brushed metal look. Two, it said leopard only, so I didn't care to look.
This is brushed metal look in front of the non-brushed metal look, like Stainless has.

Seriously, are we getting that blind from using computers?

@silver-bolt: "Also, does Stainless have the brushed steel look of OSX past? It really should :D"
It does according to the screen shot two clicks away from this page.
Seriously are we getting that lazy on the internet.

Chrome, Iron, Stainless (I assume Steel?). Next I expect Aluminum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc etc.
Also, does Stainless have the brushed steel look of OSX past? It really should :D

It's pretty cute, but it's only useful for the most barebones of browsing as of yet. Would be nice (but, alas, unlikely) to see this go open source and get some other people contributing.

It's a nice simple browser. So far no crashes.
Flash works well too, it'll be interesting to see how the 1.0 version turns out.

Lets hope it doesn't go the way of the Shiira Project.

@silver-bolt: Haha, first the logo looks a bit like the Pokemon logo, and now the naming scheme does too. Browsers: gotta catch 'em all!

The application icon is a modified version of a photo I took. The developer found my image on flickr and asked to use it. This is the original image:

Probably not a good idea to make the icon so reminiscent of the infamous OS X beach ball.
