Better Gmail 2 Gets LabelLinks4Gmail Plus Updates
Posted by Gina Trapani at 8:30 AM on October 1, 2008
All platforms with Firefox: Just uploaded the latest version of the Better Gmail 2 Firefox extension, which has several updates and one neat addition. Here's what's new:
- New! The LabelLinks4Gmail user script is now available on the Sidebar tab. As Adam described, LabelLinks4Gmail lets you associate more than one label parent with child labels.
- Updated! The GmailAgenda user script has been updated. It's called "Show Agenda" in Better Gmail 2's General tab. It now works with Gmail Apps as well as vanilla Gmail accounts.
- Updated AND New! The Redesigned skin has been updated, and there is now a Redesigned-friendly version of Folders4Gmail which replaces the green plus sign with a slick little triangle with a dark background that looks much better coupled with Redesigned. Choose "Folders4Gmail (for Redesigned skin)" in the Sidebar tab to use the style and script in conjunction.

Yup, definitely getting to the point where I see updates here before the browser has a chance to inform me that there is, in fact, and update. For some reason, this really amuses me.

I'm just looking forward to trying a new release of Better Gmail 2. This extension rocks!

@lacrimaeveneris: Same here. I think it's a case of me being an obsessive lifehacker reader rather than my browser being slow. I also find it ammusing for some reason, I don't know why though.

Agenda won't load for me. It just keeps saying "loading..." but it never does.

@xxdesmus:
Yes, the Agenda panel is a pain (pun intended):
(a) Most of the time, *even when deselected in BetterGmail2 options*, the blank Agenda panel appears on the RHS completely blank, and "just keeps saying "loading..." but it never does.
(b) I can sometimes get it to show something (by tweaking settings) and then the Agenda panel occupies half of the page and I can't see the RHS part of it. This is not consistently repeatable, so I do not understand its behaviour.

Ah, what a pity! I award Lifehacker an "A" for effort, but a "C" for achievement, this time around. Most times I think Lifehacker do a brilliant job and I usually sing their praises to my friends and recommend the Lifehacker site.
However, I just installed this set of BetterGmail2 interrelated releases, having been previously using Google Redesigned (which I have disabled). I had stopped running BetterGmail2 and disabled both it and Stylish component - even though I wanted some of the BetterGmail2 features - and moved to Google Redesigned, as the latter seemed more stable).
Anyway, this set of interrelated releases seems very flaky/unstable, to me. I think I shall have to disable BetterGmail2 and stick with Google Redesigned until the bugs get ironed out. I can't really afford to the time be an unsolicited tester of ß software releases like this - especially where my email is concerned. I am too dependent on it, sorry.

LabelLinks4Gmail wants to reload the entire page anytime I click on a label, or when I search for multiple labels. I love the feature, but it has to load without reloading for me to use it.

I'm so happy to see I'm in good company - I was just about to ask if I'm wrong for being in love with a firefox extension as much as I'm in love with Better GMail 2, and I'm glad to see that if loving it is wrong, I don't wanna be right!

im not going to upgrade my Better Gmail addon, as i am still running the version that has 'one click conversations'. Thats the best feature of them all, and i dont understand why it got dropped.

I am having the same problem as xxdesmus. The Agenda panel is stuck at a "Loading..." screen.

Does anyone else have problems with the CC BCC feature. Neither the shortcuts NOR the invoke automatically function seems to work on this. So back to clicking on a small rectangle to get a CC (or BCC) box. Is this just my set up ie I need to reinstall FF or is this consistent?

@xxdesmus: Looks like GmailAgenda broke with Firefox 3.0.3 (which is weird, because it worked in my testing, but now now). Anyway, Jeff issued a new release today, so I'll roll it into BG2 right away. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I uninstalled, and then reinstalled the updated version of Better Gmail 2, and the agenda side panel showed what appeared to be an options menu. Trouble was, the bottom of the (apparently) menu wouldn't show on the screen. Now, I'm getting the same old loading agenda at the top of the screen. Help?

I'm still using FF 2.0.0.17. In BG2 v0.7 Show Agenda not working also (so not restricted to FF 3.0x).

Hi!
Don't mean to offend you or anything, but isn't it time to update to Firefox 3?
