Accomplish More By Doing Less (But Thinking More)
Posted by Gina Trapani at 7:30 AM on September 22, 2008
Zen teacher Marc Lesser offers some great advice on how to put more things on your "not to-do list" and accomplish your goals without getting caught up in meaningless busy-ness. This talk, which happened at the Google campus back in January, is lengthy at almost an hour, and some folks might find it a bit woo-woo. If you're ok with getting a little Zen mixed up in your workday, it's a worthy watch before you plan your upcoming workweek. Keep a notebook and pen handy while you watch this one.

Cool. I think I will take the advice of this and put it on my "not to-do list", since I have more things that need done with the hour I can save by not watching it. But it is a good idea. Maybe I'll put it on my to-do list in the future. :)

I watched the video for about 8 minutes before I paused it. I have some homework that needs to be done. I might not even finish the video today.

He might be a good life coach, and I am into his message and the zen worldview, but he's really an halting, awkward, un-engaging speaker.

I appreciate you running the coverage on this topic. It is always the hardest part of my job to stop procrastinating and get on with the important responsibilities. I certainly have never thought of a do-not list, only leaving things off my to-do list. Monday morning I can assure you I will have one.

I get caught up in unnecessary details. If I'd just keep moving on and not get wrapped up in specifics that don't need to be so precise then I'd really get a lot more done. There's nothing worse than thinking "that's all I've done in the past 8 hours?"

I would rather just listen to the audio while working... (maybe I just don't get it). Could someone RIP the Audio to MP3 and post it? Thanks!

@cgarduc: Aha, is this actually a quiz? Those who do get it would put this in their not-to-do list. ;-)
