Use Photoshop Filters In GIMP
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 11:04 PM on September 18, 2008
Are you a Linux lover with a not-so-secret need for Photoshop and its many, many filters? Check out the newly-revived User Filter plug-in, which, combined with download-able filters, makes the free, open-source editor quite a bit more useful. [via]

@Ryan Fisher: GIMP is available for Windows. Since it's open-source, people have taken the time to port it over!

I think he means the User Filter plug-in, appears to be for Linux only. Don't see anything I can use for my windows version of Gimp.

Has anyone ported it to windows? My experience has been that I spend hours and hours and hours trying to get it to compile, and finally I give up. I don't want to spend hours and hours. I just want to use photoshop filters in my windows GIMP.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but would this also work for GIMP running on a Mac?

Does anyone know a way to use Photoshop Actions in GIMP? I know GIMP has scripting, but Actions are much easier to create and edit...
