Postcard.fm Sends Custom MP3 Ecards
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 8:00 AM on September 7, 2008
You can spend a good chunk of time searching the web for an ecard that isn't annoying, cheesy, ad-ridden, or some combination of all three. Or you can grab a picture, choose a song, and send a super-clean, customised ecard through Postcard.fm. Simply upload an image file and MP3 to the free, no-registration-required site, add a message, and mail it out. The recipient gets a link to your e-postcard page, with no ads in sight (at least for now). This means you can be as cute, clever, snarky, or affectionate as you want, rather than letting some oddly-shaped critters express your wishes.

i guess it will just be a matter of time before the concept is used as bait in a social engineering ploy...

MP3's will cause this site alot of issues because of copyright. The concept not exactly new either. If they need music, they need to get a selection of royalty free music on the site and allow you to select from that. aninconvenientblog.co.uk

Copyright's only an issue if the MP3 is longer than 30 seconds... I think?

You want to show someone you're thinking about them by sending them an ecard, unless you're thinking nasty thoughts about that person stop right there and think what you're doing!
1) You are giving that persons email to a third party without their permission. Do you like having your friends give out your cell phone number to telemarketers?
2) You are training that person to click links in emails.

I never open e-cards, even from my sister.
