Salling Media Sync Puts iTunes Music on Your Non-iPhone Cell
Posted by Adam Pash at 8:00 AM on September 5, 2008

Windows/Mac: Cross-platform application Salling Media Sync synchronises music from your iTunes library to a number of popular mobile phones that don't begin with a little 'i.' The app syncs music by playlist or—if you're phone's got room for it—it can sync your entire library. The interface is clean and helpful, and the list of supported devices is large (though it currently supports mostly Nokia, Sony, and Sony Ericsson phones). Media Sync is available in both free and pay ($US22) versions, the difference supposedly limited to "faster sync" for the price tag. We don't have a supported phone at Lifehacker HQ, so if you give it a try let's hear how it works for you in the comments.

Let me know when you get something like this for the Palm Treo. (yeah, I suppose iTunes sync would work since I already use a 2 gig memory card in my phone...I'd just rather not have to pull out that tiny little card with my big fat fingers and use my HotSync instead)

Its not the music on the phone that makes the iPhone great. Its the way the user interacts with it. Its a good start for other phones though

Doesn't itunesmywalkman do this already? (and completely free) I've got it installed just waiting on my new phone.

The compatability list reads like a who's-who of the best phones available. What do you mean none of you has one of them!!! It's a disgrace!

Has anybody heard of doubletwist
www.doubletwist.com/
By Monique Farantos and Jon Lech Johansen (aka DVD Jon)?
It's free....has a history of not supporting DRM as well & integrates with Facebook......

Word=Born with DoubleTwist. It has gotten my music multi device and made it accessible to my xbmc units. Just installed the facebook portion. It's a great product for the liberation of media for extended personal use. Bring back ownership!

@redbeardjim:
Go over to Treocentral.com and search the forums for write-ups on a program called iTunesAgent (free). I wrote a tutorial on this a while back.
It basically allows you to sync iTunes to any USB mass storage device. You can couple it with a program called WM5torage on the Treo, which fools the computer into thinking the USB-connected Treo is actually a USB mass storage device, i.e. bypassing active sync and going straight to the SD card. Then you can use TCPMP as the media player (since mobile WMplayer sucks), and even skin it to look like an iPod.

@redbeardjim : If you're using PocketTunes on your Treo, please give it a shot. It might just be working, you know? ;-)

I just tried this. The free version is slower because it doesnt do updates. It just syncs everything again. Back to iTunes Sync. It does updates properly and is free. [www.binaryfortress.com]

I sync my SE phone (calendar with Google calendar, text messages and music) with the rather excellent Myphone explorer: [www.fjsoft.at]

I don't know, but I do it without iTunes. I never really understood why I would need iTunes, I just sync the folders with music or podcasts straight to my phone. Sure, you could use any filesyncing software for that, but MyphoneExplorer handles all your phone syncing needs from one program with a simple slick interface.
