RoboTask Automation App Free Today Only
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 10:00 PM on September 3, 2008
Windows only: The Giveaway of the Day web site is offering the normally $120 RoboTask 3.1 software as a free download and registration for today only. If you're forced to perform perfunctory file operations or software actions regularly, like renaming and zipping up a folder of files or uploading a regularly-updated file to an FTP server, RoboTask might be perfect for you. The open-source scripting tool AutoHotkey is always free, but if you prefer a click-and-choose interface to learning AutoHotkey scripts, RoboTask is a fairly straightforward way of making your computer do the menial work. RoboTask is free at the Giveaway of the Day web site for the next 19 hours only, and is for Windows systems only.

Just so everyone is aware:
Please note that the software you download and install during the Giveaway period comes with the following important limitations:
1. No free technical support
2. No free upgrades to future versions
3. Strictly personal usage
I would also agree with booticon, $119.95 is steep for most any software program like this.

I would never pay over 10-20 for this.

For those who are looking for 0 pay-maximum gain checkout powerpro(big fan here)
[powerpro.webeddie.com]
But to achieve same functionality of Robotask probably you will need to use ahk+powerpro.
Anyways I really think that Robotask is a good application. Those who say this app should not be more than 10 bux is being unfair. I downloaded it from Giveaway and installed it. It is quite detailed and offers variety of tasks with good list of triggers.

This site includes an activation.exe file with every download that is intended to be run in order to either generate an Activation key, or to automatically activate the software. However, this particular giveaway's included activate.exe is not working correctly, so the program is reporting that it is still in a 30 day trial even after running activate.exe. I have reported the problem on giveawayoftheday.com, but have not gotten a response yet.

I'm a happy Quick Macros owner. Much much cheaper and very versatile. Will try this out though, just for the heck of it.

@idyllhands: Try running activation.exe again. For some reason, people have problems every once in a while (per the comments) with the activation.exe file working. I have never experienced the issue as I just downloaded and installed it perfectly fine.

@idyllhands: I had this problem too, but I ran the activation.exe again and it activated.

@idyllhands: I've installed on two computers and I do not see the problem you are explaining. Both of them show they are registered. "Licensed to Giveway a Day"

I wouldn't have paid $119 for this app, but I really like it. So far I it has satisfied my fetish for playing around with software.
I have been able to set up some easy tasks so far. I will be experimenting with more complex tasks today.
Has anyone tried any integration with Evernote yet?

I agree with you guys I wouldn't pay 10 for this, but since it is free :-). I like autohotkey because it has a neat auto script writer that requires minimal coding to get your script running. Similar to this. But since it is free...

I'm not running anything called activate.exe before I run setup.exe. Sounds like crapware/spyware
