Pwnage Tool 2.0.3 Jailbreaks iPhone 2.0.2 Software
Posted by Adam Pash at 4:00 AM on August 27, 2008

Mac OS X only: The free iPhone jailbreak application PwnageTool has updated to support the latest and greatest 2.0.2 iPhone software update. The PwnageTool jailbreak process hasn't really changed since we showed you how to jailbreak your iPhone with PwnageTool the first time around, so head there if you want to follow along. (Just make sure you choose the 2.0.2 5C1 firmware.) Once jailbroken, your iPhone should hold two new apps—Cydia and Installer—both of which allow you to install apps on the iPhone that aren't available through the App Store. Courageous Windows users eager to jailbreak can try out the QuickPwn release candidate, also available on the PwnageTool download page. PwnageTool is available for free from the iPhone dev blog or through your old version's built-in update, Mac OS X only.

Any applications worth jailbreaking for? Is customize working correctly?

Can anyone point me towards some clear instructions on how to unlock the iPhone? I'm interested in getting one, but only if I can unlock it (without a lot of hassle).

@Greg McMullin: How did you get last.fm? I don't have it on cydia or installer.

Its worth it for Scrobble. Which allows live updating to last.fm. I've also been using qik to stream video to the web (12 shades of awesome).
Word of advice though. If you are going from a jailbroke 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 make sure you do a clean restore. I let apple reload my backup and my phone went haywire. It got really hot and the battery drained from 100% to 0% in less than an hour. After restoring and rejailbreaking without restoring my original backup its now working better than ever.

@braveryonions:
Wait for QuickPwn for Mac. Dev Team says this week. That's what I'm doing.

How do I upgrade my already jailbroken 2.0.1 to 2.0.2, while keeping all my jailbreak apps?

FWIW I had major problems with pwnage 2.0.2. They claim that they are fixed with 2.0.3, but considering I only used the jailbreak for a couple things, I'm going to stick to vanilla firmware for now. Just not worth the hassle of having a screwed up phone.

An app you most definitely not find in the App Store but in Installer or Cydia is iSlsk. It's a P2P app for the iPhone and you can download music and import it to the music player. Guess why it's not in the App Store.

@Melik: Because it isn't up to Apple's shiny level?
Oh, and does the pwnage tool unlock an Iphone for use with say: T mobile?

@sanks: Get a bypass sim card something like [www.unlock-iphone3g.com] or others on ebay. it works great with megafon Russia it should work in other countries. that's the only way so far and it ranges from 14UDS to 60USD depending on the brand in ebay.
shop around.
