I just got this update, and I love it. The program as a whole seems more responsive.. and the facebook chat is useful. It was one feature I missed when I left Digsby.. you know, cause I don't spend any time at all on the facebook website, but all my local friends are on it so..

I'm perplexed by the "new" find feature. Wasn't this already there? If you had the "Regular" full on contact list, you could just start typing - no need for cmd-f even.

What I would really like is to be able to start typing to find on any of the styles.. the regular contact list is way too bulky for my tastes.

@welchb: Yeah, the main reason I use Adium is because it offers the windowless contact list. Fits right next to the Dock and visible at all times.

For everyone who has tried signing into Facebook Chat with Adium for the first time just recently and not gotten any notification that it's working, you should know that Facebook Chat is down at the moment for maintenance. I just spent quite some time "debugging" this issue!

I haven't had any problems with the facebook chat yet, so I am glad to see that I don't have to sign in to facebook to use it. The other added features are nice to, but what about the highly requested feature that still triggers me to open ichat? Video Conferencing.

When you use facebook chat, do contacts show up online in your contact list? I have not had any luck with this and am just wondering if I am the only one.

@urukhaifive: What's wrong with OTR? My Adium updated last night, and I used OTR to talk to a friend a couple hours ago with no (obvious) problems.....

When I sign in to Facebook Chat, it says it's connected, but I don't see any contacts, and friends don't see me as online from the Facebook webpage interface. :-( Seems this feature is still really buggy.

It's weird, when I try to use Facebook chat it takes forever while it tries to log in...then fails.

I just signed out of facebook chat on the site itself and it took all my contacts with it. Maybe if you are logged into the site it should be enabled? Give that a shot.

My favourite IM app, period. Digsby is what I use on Windows, only because it's the closest thing I've found to Adium. A contact list chat feature should be standard in IM clients these days.

for facebook chat users: it appears that you *must* be signed into facebook chat from within facebook before you can log in to facebook via adium...spent some serious time checking this issue out..

@MelanieAnn: The newest OTR protocol is supposed to use the Socialist Millionaire protocol. It's a much better idea. It relies off of shared knowledge rather than using a second, known secure channel to exchange fingerprints. So for instance, if we were communicating, and I wanted to authenticate you, I'd say the passphrase is "mustard", then I'd tell you "the passphrase is what they put too much of on your sandwich last time we ate together". Adium is still using the exchange fingerprints on a secure secondary channel, though.

@welchb You can use type ahead searching on any contact list style. The search box just filters the list accordingly. If you don't want to use a regular window (I don't use it either) you can still type to find like normal.
