YouTube Podcaster Creates Video Feeds from Searches
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 10:00 PM on August 19, 2008
YouTube Podcaster takes your YouTube video searches and creates RSS feeds of either links or download-able videos from them. In a standard RSS reader, the search results come back as video titles and links, but copy the link to the iTunes feed and you'll get a stream of MP4-formatted videos. Given the popularity of the video sharing site, you'll want to winnow down your search to avoid overwhelming your reader or iTunes player every hour, but the service provides two seriously useful functions that YouTube itself doesn't. The service requires no sign-up and is free, although donations are accepted.

"Actually something I was needing without knowing it."
@chaos0815:
Yep. Happens to me all the time. I'm reading an article and then I realize, hey, that's what I always wanted to do....and now I can do it.

Oh, the possibilities! Actually something I was needing without knowing it. As it often happens when reading Lifehacker...

Ha, it's Philip DeFranco! He's my favorite YouTuber.
I've been using vixy.net to download videos from YouTube for awhile now. It's quick and easy, especially since you don't need to install anything.

I believe that Miro does this too. You just get any rss feed from YouTube, whether from a search, or from a user's videos page (or even favorites), and create a channel with it in Miro.
Now, my YouTube subscriptions are downloaded while I sleep.

[www.dapper.net] is much more robust -- you can add a feed for youtube searches and then some.

Awesome! I did a search for my username on youtube, plugged it in, and now I have a podcast.
Two questions:
Is it permanent? i.e. can I publish this feed URL?
Is there any way to rename the feed to my name instead of the generic vixy.net/Podcaster title?
