Pageonce is a Personal Assistant in Your iPhone
Posted by Adam Pash at 4:00 AM on July 26, 2008

iPhone/iPod touch only: Free application Pageonce provides iPhone-friendly access to all of the information you have stored on previously mentioned web site Pageonce, an internet start page dedicated to aggregating your online accounts in one location. The app—like the Pageonce web interface—gives you an overview of everything from your Gmail and bank account to your cell phone usage and Netflix queue. Like the web site, the main concern here is trusting your sensitive logins to a third party. Even if you trust Pageonce with your logins, be sure to require a password every time you open the dedicated iPhone app so you're not screwed should you lose your phone. Pageonce is a free download from the iTunes App Store, works with your iPhone or iPod touch running 2.0 software.

@Adam Pash:
Sorry, you're right. I was a little harsh. To be fair though, the screenshot you used does have 6 finance related accounts out of a possible 12, and I'm not even counting the airlines.

@bdawg923: Thanks for the heads up, fixing.
@drftjgoj: Be a little generous; you don't have to put in all that information. You can use it for as little or as much as you want. Entering in your Netflix username and password, for example, probably isn't that big of a deal. But obviously you should only add accounts based on your level of comfort, and if that means you're not comfortable with giving them even the info for your digg/youtube/netflix accounts, that's fine, too.

I don't see how anything could possibly go wrong with giving usernames and passwords to all your financial institutions to one company's program on a mobile device.

Just given it a whirl.
No Facebook support under social? how odd.
It is sort of nice...has digg, youtube, ebay, gmail...
Very little from a UK perspective although I did notice HSBC from the financial list.

Hi guys, just a heads up for UK users, some adverse reviews and not much in the way content on there for us apparently.
Cheer.

Good idea to give a single company so much access to your personal data? I think not.

This looks like a great idea but I would highly suggest using a PIN on your iPhone as well as requiring a password to get into this.

Seems like an ok system. The iPhone app is nothing but read only data and there's no actual access to usernames and passwords from the app. On the website there's no where you can find the usernames and passwords either...so if someone were to hack into your PageOnce account the most they would be able get is the same read only information available on the iPhone. When you edit information no existing data is displayed. I think the only real security concerns with this are possible access to your account numbers on some accounts (though more is usually required to do anything with them) and the fact that you are handing over login information to a third party company. I'm checking with my bank first to get their opinion on the site and app before I do anything.

thor - you're gonna check with your bank? Really? What do you think they'll say?

Well...they run a site that offers similar services as PageOnce, but is obviously limited to just my bank. It lets you get info from other sites such as utilities and insurance and such. They have been running that for at least 5 years. I'm hoping what they will tell me is that they know about the PageOnce site and approve of it, or even that they have provided a path for the website to retrieve the necessary data. Basically just looking for their opinion on the site and if they are cooperating in any way with them. I sent the email to them just after posting my previous post, so I don't really expect anything until late Monday at the earliest, but, we'll see.

I was being sarcastic. I'd be shocked if they said anything but no - especially since you say they have a site that competes. Banks will always give you a no by default in order to cover their @$$.

how can you actually password-protect this app (or any app) on the iPhone?

I really like the idea of this app, but like everyone else am apprehensive to give them my info. Is there anything like this that stores all of the info locally?
