DropUpload Does Quick Drag-and-Drop FTP
Posted by Adam Pash at 8:00 AM on July 19, 2008
Windows only: Free, open-source application DropUpload is a lightweight FTP client designed to provide simple drag-and-drop file uploads to any folder on your FTP server. To use it, you set up DropUpload with specific folders you want to upload to, then just drag and drop files into the app to automatically upload them to your server. It's quick, extremely lightweight, and very easy to use once it's set up. DropUpload is free, Windows only. Don't have an FTP server? Here's how you can set one up on your home computer.

I agree with xingman, Rightload is tops when it comes to hassle-free quick uploads to ftp servers.

In case anyone's wondering, I just tried it in Linux with Wine. It connects, but the uploads don't work.

I prefer Rightload : [rightload.org]
It gives me a lot more control.

So, basically, it's like dragging and dropping into a nautilus/explorer window, at the risk of getting a virus... Sorry, not for my home network.

@ankeet: I got that too. Hopefully it was a false positive and the next database update fixes it.

hmmm...
Any ideas on distributing this to clients with FTP details already in there, or a file they can import with the settings?

@3B Web Design:
Click on "?", then click "Generate a locked version..." at the bottom of the screen.

Does this do FTP servers with ports other than the standard port? To get around my ISP I have to set mine at port 10, the only thing that could access it is net2ftp.com.

@drewls: If you're using gnome you should be able to connect to an ftp host through nautilus. Just go to places>'connect to server' and enter your FTP info. I added a bookmark so I can quickly backup stuff to my FTP server all in the filebrowser.
