Bug Shooting Does Advanced Screen Capture and Annotation
Posted by Adam Pash at 7:00 AM on July 16, 2008
Windows only: Free application Bug Shooting is a simple but powerful screenshot application designed to make sharing screenshots via email or with bug tracking applications a cinch. In fact, the application is set up to work with several popular bug tracking applications out of the box, but it also integrates with your default email client, Skype, or any other application on your desktop with the right setup. The application supports several markup options and advanced screenshot features—like screen magnification—that we've primarily seen in commercial apps like SnagIt in the past. Bug Shooting is freeware, Windows only, requires .NET 2.0.

I'll have to give this a shot tonight. Looks promising.

How did he get the Options, My Cases and Show there and remove the other useless options?

shup([shup.com]) is the best i've ever tried. it is a small program that allows you to screen capture, edit the capture in any way, and then upload it to various image hosting sites(all automatically once you set it up, which is easy)

FYI, I installed this program and it ran at a whopping 64MB of RAM in the background after I snapped a picture. Considering the alternatives, this seems a bit heavy.
That said, it certainly does what it says it does, and seems to do it well. Neat program for those who have plenty of free RAM, but even so I'm probably going to continue to use shup or fscapture.

My favorite is still the FastStone Capture, despite the fact, that it's latest versions are no longer freeware. It allows me to grab screenshot even in the Windows Remote Desktop session. In the Bug Shooting, I am missing the "Capture (active) Window" option.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned FireShot -- it's a simple FF extension that allows you to capture, annotate, save as jpgs, pngs AND email.
I have FF 2 at work but FF 3 at home and it works great on both.
I heart FireShot. The free version gives me everything I need, but I am considering upping to the paid version. I can't edit the screenshots I've just annotated in the free version, for example -- but it's great just for capturing a bug and pointing it out, for example.
Screengrab (another FF extension) is also great for capturing an entire web page versus a screenshot but it does not have annotating features.

Unfortunately "Printscreen" does not allow drawing boxes and markers on your screenshots.
I just tested out the solutions mentioned here, and for now decided to use Bug Shooting, nice finding (uninstalled Ultrasnap - too heavy).

MWSnap3 is my screen capture utility of choice. Its similar to Fastone Capture, and has been free since the beginning.
