The Most Unproductive 'Productivity' iPhone App
Posted by Gina Trapani at 7:45 AM on July 11, 2008
Has to be Hold On!, a button which times how long you can, um, hold it down, to "improve your concentration skills." Screenshot, App Store link. [via]

I hope people don't think it means to press as hard as they can...

I just want to say that URL filters are not working (and haven't been for a while). I think I'll come back to the site in a week when (hopefully) iPhone news take less than half the front page.
This link should work, right?

I saw that app and just don't think it would be that great for the phone to constantly be pressing on one part of the touchscreen.

@qbix: I agree here, way too much iPhone stuff. Soon this site will need to be renamed to "iPhoneHacker".

Linked at the top of the page, all day today and tomorrow: the site sans iPhone 2.0 posts.

@qbix: If you want to disallow all those things, you should try taking the /any/ part of that link out, then it works just fine.

@Gina Trapani: Yes, I noticed that, but I still get the iPhone posts.

@qbix: Yea I wanted to know about new tech and I think in the last 2 days I have read enough about the iPhone to make me sick - its a cool phone and i like it but still, come on.

Not exactly a productivity app, but...
There's a flashlight app. $1 for an app that turns your screen white.

@keithsherwood:
I agree.. I would hate to see people break the phone or mess up the touch screen calibration because of some app like this.

Sure it's a productivity app.
The productivity lesson is learning how to grow a third thumb...or make one.

@Make my baby: How about an app that makes a button that fills the screen, with the instruction "Don't touch this button for as long as you can."
Go ahead and try it. Then give your phone to me. ;)

I'm just glad they're not asking money for this one. ;)
I'd take it out of the Productivity category and put it in "Games" one-and I don't mean with the rest of the games. I mean in the "developers playing a game/joke/prank on users" category, because it has to be at least mildly entertaining to be a real game ;)

does it display the amount of time that you held the button down? if so, it might be useful for telling how long it takes you to fall asleep at night.
