They should clarify this as the most downloads for an application in 24 hours. I'm pretty sure Windows Updates make 8 million look like a drip.

@EntrepreneurTim: Exactly my thoughts. It crashes a lot for me too.

Yep, crashes are crazy. If not for the new Bookmarks manager and the 'awesome bar', I would have been back to FF2.
crashes for me are caused by
xml.dll (forgot the extension)
js3250.dll
crt--.dll

On the whole crashes issue FF3 used to crash on me when I started using it and then I read somewhere online that it was the google tool bar that was causing it so I uninstalled the google tool bar and its been running fine since.

Crashes for me everytime I start up. Works fine on the second try.
Don't have google toolbar but have 24 other extensions so not sure what is causing it!

It has crashed for me sometimes, but only very rarely. Rather than extensions it seems to be dodgy plugins that are the problem. Can't fix this though- good job it only happens very rarely.

I wonder how many more downloads they would have gotten had they done a better job explaining the times?

I have been using FF3 since the RC2 version and I cannot remenber if it has ever crashed - I believe not.
I am using both Ubuntu 8.04 and XP.

I get a weird thing happen - after watching, say, a Divx or Flv video in the browser then all the menus and toolbars go black, and stay that way until I restart FF.
Other than that it's fine.
Oh, and the term 'awesome bar' makes me feel faintly queasy.

Been using FF3 since the first beta of it, and I dont think i've ever had a crash with any version of it.

Wow, there are a lot of complaints here about ff3. I'm using ff3 on vista and XP, and I've had virtually no problems. I was using the rc4 version under ubuntu and had no problems there either. Haven't upgraded to fedora 9 yet, though, so I will be keeping ff 2.0.0.14 running under fedora 8 for a while. Personally I love ff3. it starts QUICK, and doesn't hog resources.
Also, I have had MANY problems in the past with the Google toolbar in ff and IE. In my opinion, despite how much I typically love google's products, the toolbar is a piece of crap. Get rid of it.

It NEVER crashes on me and I have a load of extensions and plug-ins. FF2 constantly crashed on me, so I'm very happy with FF3.

Hey Adam,
I think you should change the title because this isn't a record recognized by Guinness World Records (yet). It's a record, but not a Guinness World Record.

downloaded it. installed it. almost regretting it. flash freezes, it crashes a lot and not all of the extensions are working yet :( but i'll still stick with it for some days. but i've started using opera a lot these days.

@timyates: I'm pretty sure they specified in the FAQ that it had to be the complete application and not just an update to the beta.
So I don't think updates count at all.
