Totlol Finds Kid Friendly Online Video
Posted by Lifehacker US Edition at 11:30 PM on June 19, 2008
While YouTube may be a great place to answer your toddler's requests to see video of a baby panda, there is also tons of content more risqué than adorable baby animals. Video site Totlol offers the good stuff from YouTube to your kids without the rest. Designed by a British software developer and father of two, Totlol is a child-friendly frontend to YouTube, with clips fit for kids from the age of six months old to six years old. Videos range from the comically absurd such as Elmo and Grover singing the Numa Numa song, to the more serious, such as a reading of The Giving Tree by children's author Shel Silverstein.

My 6 and 8 year olds have recently become acquainted with YouTube, which had me a little worried. The timing for this post couldn't have been better. Thanks a lot.

Hmm, interesting. I will have to let my 2 yr old check this out. He loves YouTube for all the train videos, but I always have to sit with him the entire time he's on there. Now I may not have to. Thanks!

Don't let my handle fool you--I am plenty worried about the crazy stuff on Youtube, and I closely supervise the kids (4 and 6 yo boys) when they're looking for kitties and puppies on the 'tube. This is indeed just the thing we need. We'll test drive it right away.

Good I guess but young children shouldn't be using the Internet, let alone alone. When you're not there - disable your Internet. The chances of a kid seeing something violent, sexual are just too high - even on a site like youtube.
Totlol is probably a big step in the right direction, but again - children require parenting, you can't expect a website or software to do it for you. If you don't have the time to monitor and censor the sites your kid goes to - you're better off not being a parent, or should not let them use the Internet. Sit them down in front of classics like Sesame Street.

this is a totally awesome site , for when you need to entertain them and you don't want to type 'elephant' into the searchbox of youtube :)
My kids and I use totlol to feel a bit safer ( we surf together always )

I have 2 baby sisters, they're not quite a year old yet but its good to know about this site ahead of time. I must admit i found the Elmo Numa Numa entertaining, as well as the catchy Gummi Bear song (both English and German versions lol), the latter i've known about but never seen the video for :3

@Internet-TV: agreed. No matter how safe the site your kids are looking at might seem, you should always be there, just in case.

@rolii: I don't know if these comments were directed toward me and what I said. But to clarify, I am ALWAYS in the same room as my son when he is online. It would just be nice to be able sit down at my computer and check my mail, ect. while he is occupied.
