XB Browser Provides Anonymous Web Browsing
Posted by Adam Pash at 9:00 AM on June 17, 2008

Windows only: Freeware application xB Browser is a portable web browser that provides anonymous web surfing at startup. xB Browser anonymises traffic either through the free Tor network or through its distributor XeroBank's networks (the second comes with a price). Born from the ashes of previously mentioned and abandoned TorPark, xB Browser is really just Firefox with anonymous browsing baked in from the get-go. xB Browser is free, Windows only, though Mac and Linux versions are planned for August 08.

i tried it a few weeks back and found it slow and obnoxious. i dont like paying money for software, and it doesnt help to remind me that if you give them money, it will make it faster.
please, someone, revive TorPark.

I use TOR it's great!
...but, for all the kids in the audience who think they are invincible, these do not make you completely anonymous, they will mask your IP to a certain extent.
Maybe to the mere mortal web admin, you may be untraceable... but be careful who you're messing with on the net... step on the wrong shoes and you'll have a knock at the door...

i tried using it for a while...pretty slow and useless...
If you want proxy privacy just get a background program like ultrasurf 8.9
Made to bypass the chinese government's firewall. Works magic against my school webfilter.
Oh, and did I mention its pretty fast??

Don't forget that the Tor network provides a reasonable amount of privacy for surfing, but NOT for security, as the login information for several embassies (Iran, India, Japan and Russia) were leaked via Tor.

I tried Torpark in the past, and like many in this thread was disappointed with the execution and speed.
I've since discovered OperaTor, and have found it to be a bit speedier and more out-of-the-box ready.

Tor is a little difficult to use, it doesn't always connect properly for me.

Depending on what one is trying to accomplish Safari may have the answer. Private Browsing essentially prevents your computer from having memory. Very cool if you just want guilt free surfing.

@Rob C
I tried TOR networks, I even purchased a VPN service once that made my connection fast enough. But Ultrasurf beats them all.
Thanks

I would suggets JAP, too. But with all this "tools" the problem is the (non-existing) speed, because to "hide" all your traffic, the tool have to generate a lot of more traffic :-(

if you are looking for a simple anonymous web surfing, I suggest to see JAP ([anon.inf.tu-dresden.de]).

Like portobello_man, I have been using Portable Firefox with Portable Tor for a coiple of years now. Tried XBBrowser when it was mentioned last time and found it nowhere near as good.
My opinion.

I use Portable Firefox with Portable Tor. With the TorButton add-on that gives me a decent browser with switch on, switch off Tor whenever I need it.
Good enough for me!

This would be excellent except for the fact that [1] it's not based on Firefox 3, and [2] it's not "USB portable".

This looked great, and I liked Torpark when I used it briefly, but (probably due to incresed traffic) XB is unusably slow.

Anybody tried the FF add-on Tor-Proxy.Net? I would prefer to use a plugin instead of another brower. If the plugin can be activated and disble with a key command, just be ok for me.

@Greg.Rowler: Thanks for the OperaTor (Opera+Tor) tip. I'd never heard of it before, and what a nice experience... no install, ran right out of the box, one checkbox turns on the built in Tor routing, and it's quite fast after a short wait to bootstrap the connection.
It's also great that it's based on Opera because (among other things) it uses the very nimble Opera 9.5, and it doesn't conflict with your Firefox instance like TorPark and XBBrowser can/did. Great tip!

IT everywhere LOVES you for making their job easier. Now, if they didn't know before, they know all of the common ways of bypassing filtering. What a bunch of lollipops. Why would Adam suck all of you in to such stupidity. If one finds a way, it only remains that way by keeping it to oneself. Thankfully, no one mentioned the other top ten. And a double thanks that the top ten aren't posted anywhere. The oral tradition returns--like in Masonry.
