Sxipper Automatically Fills in Web Forms
Posted by Adam Pash at 7:00 AM on June 17, 2008

Firefox only (Windows/Mac/Linux): Firefox extension Sxipper automates your web logins and form filling through a simple, attractive interface. Once installed, you can create different personas into Sxipper for quick form filling for site registrations, and Sxipper automatically works with Firefox's existing saved logins. The extension can either learn and build personas based on information you've already used in forms, or you can import other form and password data from other programs like Roboform or plain old vCards. Sxipper is free, works wherever Firefox does.

The only problem I have with this extension is that there is no option for a master password. It would be nice to have to option to supply a master password so people other than me cannot login to my sites (others in the house that may use my computer).

Says author is not verified. Kind of sceptical supplying passwords to an extension without a verified source.

This is better than Google Toolbar's "AutoFill" feature?

I've been using this extension for months and I couldn't live without it.
It even makes temporary email addresses (with a click of a button) that can be as "temporary" as you want them to be.

Does it work with FF3? I fear downloading it on the eve of FF3's launch...

Ey! Ey didn't know bout it!
Kind'a like the PayPal plug-in feature. Or not? Just a stand-alone setup!
Love lil appz here and there! As long as they don't chew up my memory.
Love my mom too!

I've been using Sxipper for ~2 months now, and it's very good.
Although, there are still a few rough edges and one annoying feature: if you find a form that has been trained incorrectly, you cannot override the training if the person who trained it has more experience than you. Very irritating.
However, I'm just happy to leave Roboform - the rudest, most ignorant tech support I've ever received.

@DavidONE: Oh no! I've been a faithful user of Roboform for years. Thankfully I haven't had the need to call them.

I have been a paid Roboform user for a loooong time. I couldn't get my job done without it (I bet I have at least 30 logins). But I needed a cross-platform version, and for some reason, there's no version of Robofom for the Mac.
I tried several others, but just about 3 weeks ago I found Sxipper and after getting used to some of the quirks, dumped Roboform.
I exported my logins from Roboform to Sxipper (it walks you through it, nice touch!) and then exported the Roboform bookmarks out and into Foxmarks. Now I am all set!
p.s. I have had to call Roboform tech support only once. When they wouldn't let me reinstall it because they saw it was installed too many times (um, yeah, just formatted my HD, sorry I didn't call you first, lol). BUT, I can't lie, they were nice about it and gave me a few more installs since I had several licenses with them.

I've been using Sxiper for months and I must be doing something wrong. For me, it is more annoying than helpful but other comments make me think I'm missing something.

@theRIAA: Agreed! While the interface on Sxipper is perhaps prettier, InFormEnter has done this all along and is a nice little extension.
@artis: No. InFormEnter is a great little extension and I'll just stick with it instead of Sxipper.

Hey Adam, I've been using Sxipper for the better part of a year now and give it two thumbs up. Is there any new info on the business end for Dick the developer? He's been an acquaintance for almost 15 years, but likely wouldn't take offense to hear himself categorized as something of a piece of work (takes one to know one, he could legitimately argue). In other words, I probably won't ask him myself, so I wonder if you or the VWags had any updates?

@Hez: Well, he's still decorative and underfed, but I reckon you already know that. He doesn't seem to be the type to give up easily, and he's got big recognition at least in Canuckistan, which should guarantee him a decent stream of investment.

They need a Wikipedia article on all the people that didn't know about it, cuz I didn't either.
Anyway, I've been using InFormEnter for months and it does this trick just fine.

IE users can rely on IE7Pro (now IEPro) to take care of this as well

Funny thing, just UNinstantiated this before coming on here, as it think it was slowing down my FF. But then again, it could have been another extension....

I like AutoFill Forms, with its customizable fields. And it's got multiple profiles, as well.

It's up to someone who has the initiative to write such an article. Apparently nobody has thought of it or has been interested till now. So then.. why don't you write one. :)

I'd never heard of it till a few days ago when it was a "recommended download" in Firefox. I have dozens of extensions installed (as always) and never came across this one till recently.

@Jim: I would also like to know the answer to this question, AUtofill forms has remained a great roboforms alternative for me, and if I'm not mistaken it works with Firefox's master password.

I still prefer Roboform...there is the auto fill option for personal data and CC which I haven't found in sxipper. Sxipper's upside is that it works across OS which is lacking in roboform

I've been using this extension for four months and it's really sweet to have forms automatically filled in selecting your 'persona'. I love it.

I found Sxipper a little too much for me. What I really want is something just to fill out forms, not manage passwords, since I share my computer at home. And I got really irritated seeing that dog in all the fields.
Fireform works really great for me, and I'm glad they've finally updated it for FF3. Really key in an application like this is to say 'train this field as' so the application gets better at filling out forms as you use it. Sxipper didn't have this.
The other annoying thing about Sxipper was assuming I always wanted it to generate a random password and store it for me, which really burned me when I tried to log in from somewhere else.
