Unify Your Clipboard Across Computers
Posted by Gina Trapani at 5:00 AM on May 30, 2008
If you use multiple computer systems throughout the day and want an easy way to share your clipboard between them, you've got several options. The Web Worker Daily blog runs down seven applications and webapps that range from free to $US35, across operating systems, too. One of our favourites which didn't make the list is cl1p.net, which is now iPhone and iPod touch-ready. For more clipboard shenanigans, check out our Top 10 Clipboard Tricks.

I'm going to second Rick Lobrecht's vote for Synergy. Share not only your clipboard, but your entire mouse & keyboard at the same time.

Input Director is definitely very powerful... sadly it doesn't run on Linux so I can't use it... I need to have both windows and linux machines, so synergy it is.

@Rick Lobrecht: I was using Synergy until I discovered Input Director. ID kicks Synergy's ass.

I love Synergy on my multi-PC desktop. Clipboard sharing is a bonus too.

I don't currently share across multiple desktops at the same time, but Synergy looks awesome for that. For my own use, I still love Google Notebook, however, as it does allow me to copy info from various machines and keep that info in a central location.

Is there anything that does this with files, etc.? I use Synergy and swear by it, but would like to cut/paste files and folders. Synergy was supposed to add it sometime, but it isn't updated that often.

@adam51172: I agree, I love my Google Notebooks. All those little inspirational images, recipes, lifehacks, gift ideas, whatever, in one accessible, searchable places that also keeps track of where they came from? Brilliant. I just wish there were a full plugin or widget for my windows mobile device, doing it text only slightly less convenient.
