You've got a long weekend ahead, and aside from your inevitable grill mastery, you need to find the perfect brew for your weekend feast. Beer-lovers web site Beer Suggest is here to fill that need, rounding up and reviewing over 4000 beers and over 1100 breweries to help you find the perfect beer for any occasion. The site has both wiki and review elements, so if you consider yourself a connoisseur you can update or review any beer on the site to provide your expert recommendations.

I'm putting another vote in for the Great Lakes Brewing Company. Anyone liking a great porter should check out the Edmund Fitzgerald Porter that they produce. Their Burning River Pale Ale is also an excellent choice.
I'll still swear by Sierra Nevada Pale Ale most days, though.

I have to also second (err third) beeradvocate.com
More complete... This site shows promise but lacks depth..

Along the same lines: www.beeradvocate.com is a more filled out site and has both site reviews and peer reviews listed in their db of beers.

First of all, Blue Moon is owned by Coors, but it started at a microbrewery at Coors Field by a talented brewer... So painting it with a Coors/Molson brush is not accurate.
Also DogFishHead and Stone are the most over rated breweries to ever exist, EVER. Well known fact that high alcohol beers receive gross ratings inflation due to high alcohol content.
Arrogant Bastard tastes like a cat's lemony @sshole, might as well save your money and buy Steel Reserve. Both taste about the same and have similar amounts of alcohol.
I'm a beer connoisseur, but the GABF is starting to turn into 2 distinct types of douche bags:
1. tards who say everything with > 8% alcohol is divine ambrosia, even if it tasts like black licorice flavored mouthwash.
2. beret wearing, should-be wine snobs talking about types of cask wood and arguing what beer goes with glazed asparagus spears.

@irish_hoya: I didn't really like Raison d'Etre. I can't remember why, it's been a while, but something about it turned me off. But I'd drink any of their 30*x minute IPAs any day of the week and Sunday.

Being an Indiana boy and the first beer podcaster, I drink a Three Floyd's Alpha King every single day. ratebeer.com and beeradvocate.com are both excellent sites also.

@inboulder1: Do your homework before revoking my "beer cred"...
@Hamm Beerger: Good call - the 90 minute is also a good alternative to the 120, and the flavor isn't quite as overwhelming for those hot days after mowing the lawn.
@xrobevansx: Midas Touch - good call. Ever try the Dogfish Head Raison d'Etre? Or the cask-conditioned Stone IPA?
I'm an Ohio boy, so I also recommend any Great Lakes brewco beer - especially the Burning River Pale Ale.

Y'know, I was just looking for a site like this yesterday, right before this post went live.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm a beer 'sissy,' but I'm looking to expand my knowledge during the holiday weekend. :)

DogfishHead and Stone make some of the best beer in the country. Ever had Midas Touch? I truly think it is the best beer I have ever had.
I also suggest anything from Flying Dog.

I'd also recommend ratebeer.com and beeradvocate.com which also provides food pairing suggestions.

Once you find your beer, or before you find your beer you might need to find some food. Check out a food search engine for a recipe to pair with your beer.

Yikes that site is not overly stable. Anyhoo, looks to be all US based anyway. No go for us Aussies. :(

This site is an interesting addition to an already crowded space. Check out RateBeer [www.ratebeer.com] or BeerAdvocate [www.beeradvocate.com] for essentially the same thing with a lot more beers and users.

@inboulder1:
irish_hoya is half right. Isn't it now called Molson Coors???? since they merged?? Dogfish head is overated..The only decent beer they make is their Shelter PA.

Wow it didn't take long for the 502 "you've been LifeHackered" to bring the site down.

@irish_hoya: I actually prefer the 90 minute IPA to both the 60 and the 120. It's 10 bucks for a four-pack at my local Whole Foods, compared to 8 bucks per beer for the 120 minute.

It took awhile for me, but finally got through...
Personally, good choice for the picture! Dogfish Head's 120 minute IPA is delicious (but the 60 minute is a more affordable and near-equivalent alternative), and Stone was one of my most enjoyable brewery tours!
Too bad Blue Moon got a mention in there... Wheats are for sissies! (not to mention it's a Molson)

Wow - the site seems to be down already! ("The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.")
Darn, and I was all excited! After all, a wise man once said "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." (Ben Franklin)

Now personally, I don't care for an IPA. I'm more into a good Bock, or double-Bock, like Celebrator.
