Opt Out of Facebook Application Invites
Posted by Gina Trapani at 6:20 AM on May 16, 2008
You never have to decline 17 zombie bites again: Facebook finally offers long-overdue opt-out capabilities for applications and by sender. When you receive an application request, you can now click the "Block This Application" link to never see that application again, or if you have a friend who's particularly aggressive with the invites, you can also hit the "Ignore All Invites From This Friend." Can I get a Hallelujah! Update: A reader informs us that this has been in place since February. Apologies for the old news! We've been avoiding Facebook for awhile now because of all the, uh, application spam.

I wonder if this mean that the app. blocking user will not show up in the spammers invite list, or that they will not receive the invite.

is there a "block all invites from EVERYONE" option? Invitation spam is the single biggest downside to Facebook, they should change their API so that apps can't send invites, period.
The other downside is.. "you've been sent a message, click here to view it". You click the link/video/picture, and of course, you're taken straight to the "install this app" page. Apps should only be able to send messages to other app users. By sending to non app-users, you've essentially got invites by another name. This should be sorted too.
Simple things that should have been implemented at the time of the original app structure.

This has been there for a while. The problem with this is twofold:
1. By now I have accumulated about 300-400 application invites. I'm not going to bother clicking block for all of them (however the ignore all is very useful!)
2. Biggest problem with FB applications is that so many are added in a regular basis, this stems the tide somewhat.
In any case I just ignore the Requests completely. If someone TRULY wants to invite me to something i'll find out :P

What we really need is a "block all idiots" feature.

You know, I've never had a problem with this on facebook...
Then again, I have no friends...

Oh, I got excited for a second and though I could block all application invites.
The only "application" on my page is Facebook Developer, just so I could get an api key to play with popfly for all of 5 minutes.
Party invites and being too lazy to pick up a phone is the only reason I haven't completely nuked my account yet.

I'm with Al Iguana. I've seen this feature for a while now, but I still get invites to new applications I haven't yet blocked. I want to be able to block all applications, ever. (If I ever need or want to add anything, I know where to go, and how to do that.)

This is a great time-saver.
It will be also be good if someone would come up with a facebook snooze, like the twitter one, that would enable you to snooze aggressive friends.
