BasKet Organises Your Multimedia Notes and Tasks

Linux only: Free multimedia note organizer BasKet takes a page from Microsoft's OneNote, along with a good portion of Getting Things Done-style organisation, to offer an all-in-one spot to drop your thoughts and next actions. You can quickly paste in text and images, sure, but you can also set up launchers to open files with particular programs, grab a section of your screen to paste up, and grab text from files. BasKet also runs as a desktop widget, and offers a pre-built GTD package for help in getting yourself oriented. BasKet is a free download for Linux systems, and requires a number of KDE libraries to run. Thanks, Mark!

Basket has NO drawing features like OneNote so you can not get to use any of those types of tools BUT I do like its ability to highlight text in different colors depending on your search terms.
Anyone else see any big differences between the two?

I took notes in basKet for a class, and Printing was a bit of a pain. I'd set up the notes in free form mode, so it took a bunch of reorganization and exporting to HTML to get it to fit properly on a page (but that may just be my case).
Also, for drawing you should be able to easily copy/paste images into it. Assuming you're in a Linux/KDE environment you can easily throw together some work in Krita/GIMP and then just move the screenshot over.
Also there is no handwriting recognition, but that's outside of what basKet is trying to do anyway.
Overall it's a really cool program, and I'm eager to see what they further build on it.

If you enjoy BasKet, know Qt/C++ and have some free time on your hands, please consider joining its development team. Its creator Sébastien Laoût has to move on to other things and cannot continue working on it: http://basket.kde.org/news.php#the-2007-05-27 I hear he has got some volunteers already, but he says the project could clearly use some more.

For something with less overhead (non-KDE) and a Windows version as well, it looks like Notecase is worth considering: [notecase.sourceforge.net]

I noticed this software when I was looking for a replacement for KeyNote (the note taker). The features in BasKet features are enough for me to use, but it still doesn't have tab function (am I right?)
I have to wait for its Mac or Windows version (in the future 2.0). If I buy Eee PC 900 or similar, I could try it too.
