as a "filmmaker" (and I use that term loosely) I have never really seen the need for using storyboarding for any of my shots. Truthfully I know in my own mind how I'd like the shots to play out and look, and since I'm writing the script, directing the actors, and doing all the post production work anyways, writting and extensive script or drawing storyboards simply seems like an unnessesary step to me. Granted it would be nice to sketch the idea and get ideas for other angles, but when you shoot on your own budget and in between work and school, simplistic workable footage are the words of the day. The goal in my mind is 1) get the idea on paper and script out lines for the actors to read and or memorize 2) get the actors to actually show up and do what you want them to do. 3) do the take a couple of times (unless you are simply in a complete time crunch and then must decide if the scene is really worth it(Plus one take really helps you narrow your choices in post anyways)) and 4) make sure you audio and lighting were decent enough for the shot (nothing sucks more than to have a great looking shot that no one can here the audio from (If you have to, redub the voice track in post and really splice it in with background audio (that you should take about 15 seconds of in order to have dead space for later in post audio mixing))

i have sony movie studio, i've never done video or audio editing before and it really seems complicated. it makes blender look easy. hopefully this will help, i'm using windows movie maker until i can figure sony out.
