@edythemighty: lmfao at david lee roth's career

Is there ANY way to get this to work in Canada? i realize that a proxy would likely work, but any other ways?
I remember when i first found Pandora i fell in love with it and since they changed it to US only i missed it...

@ihakes: 48 states are contigous. The other two are far, away, like Star Wars films or David Lee Roth's career :)

I've used pandoraboy for a few months now. It's pretty good, but can be buggy at times. I've actually had more success with the 0.51a version rather than the 0.3x one... the 0.3x did not work with keyboard shortcuts or the apple remote, the 0.51a does.

Sorry, didn't realize they were in any violation. My apologies.

Please don't talk about PandoraJam on open forums like this (just spread the word to your friends). I just know they're gonna get popped soon now - Lifehacker gets a lot of traffic.

i have pandora open in a web clip on my dashboard. it's not perfect... like not every link works... but i think it works great for me.

While it's not free, there is a great app for OS X called PandoraJam. It integrates with Last.fm so you are tracking your songs there. It also works with growler and allows you to send your pandora stream over your AirPort Express to your stereo. It has a stream record feature, but I've never used it and really can't tell you how good it is.

I was in love with Pandora for a couple months but found my music just kept repeating. I did find some excellent new music during those two months tho.

I was a PandoraBoy user for 6 months, until I found PandoraJam ( [www.bitcartel.com] ). PandoraJam also pushes updates through Growl and allows you to use the remote. But it will also update status messages of Adium, iChat & Skype, plus they just added Twitter support. On top of that, it has Last.FM support that allows you to submit those songs to Last.FM. Plus, if you so choose, it can record songs from PandoraJam into your iTunes album. PandoraJam is the best Pandora app I have seen on any platform. Check it out.

I second the recommendation for Open Pandora based only on the fact that it works with your Last.fm account.

I've been using OpenPandora for Windows for about a year now and I highly recommend it. The OpenPandora site even links to a guide for using Pandora outside the US.

Can you stream Pandora over airport express?
robgnyc
Yeah, I had to start my love affair with Deezer while I was in Canada.

Those outside the US can use Tor to access Pandora:

This is an Apple thing, I know, but, no mention of OpenPandora??
Yes, it's for windoze, however, there is a guide for those listeners outside of the USA via TOR. Purdy cool..check it out.

I have been a long time user of this app, and sometimes lags, but that is all thanks to Adobe and the wonderful and amazing *cough* flash player.
kasnerd
Yup, still no love for those of us outside the 50 contiguous.
ihakes
I was naive enough to think that this app would get around the fact that I was in Canada.
Not so.
I want my Pandora back

@schwnj: Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot.
@Nemtynakht: You poor soul! You've obviously been deprived of a proper musical education. :)
TommySez
Wait, wait, wait...
Pandora is US only!?
BOO!
Myles
@tommysez: there's such a thing as good Cheap Trick? :)
Nemtynakht
I love Pandora, but it takes a while before your stations get good. It helps to be vigilant with the thumbs up/down button.
@tommysez: try removing cheap trick as an artist and instead adding only the songs you like--it will make a big difference.

This reminds me I have to get back into Pandora again. The "problem" is I find so much good music it's overwhelming sometimes. Anyway, unlike Last FM, the songs are classified by musical scholars and professionals rather than by users, so I find the matches between similar-sounding songs a lot more accurate.
Rhywun
My only problem with Pandora is that it doesn't have a notion of an artist's good versus bad materials. I used to ask it to play me stuff similar to Cheap Trick. And it would. It would play tons of stuff like bad pop-whore Cheap Trick.

For Windows users there is an App called Pandora's Box.
Check it out at:

I've been using Pandora regularly for about a year now. There have been full work days that I've heard only music I like. I've always found out about several artists I've never heard of on Pandora.

I've got a Prism app running Pandora, and it's a great way to find new music.
