FrameByFrame Makes Stop-Motion Videos a Breeze

Mac OS X only: Make your own stop-motion animation videos using your iSight webcam or connected video camera with freeware application FrameByFrame. I showed you how to document your parties with a freeware time-lapse application, and now FrameByFrame is taking care of the stop-motion video angle. It's easy to use, and the results—Lego samples of which you can see on the download page—are very impressive. FrameByFrame is freeware, Mac OS X only.

For those that are interested, Monkeyjam is a good stop motion app for PC.

This is exactly the tool I need to speed up my claymation editing process. Is there mayhaps a Windows alternative?

@Nik Gupta: It's not exactly the best to use, but Windows Movie Maker can be used by making movies out of pictures and setting the display time for each picture as low as the program will let you. A couple of years ago I had made a couple of cartoons using MS Paint and Windows Movie Maker. It can be done but I am sure there are better programs out there. If nothing else, it can be used as a nice way to get an idea of what your final product is going to look like.

Freeware, eh? Nice. This may be a good alternative to iStopMotion (which I got with MacHeist and which works nicely, but it's the Home edition and lacks more advanced features).

@edosan: The only thing that program is missing is a nice overlay so you can line up your current shot with your previous one. It does a fairly decent job at everything else though.
I do suggest giving it a go to see if it suits you though.

You can also take a ton of photos and just drag them into iMovie. You set the speed to high and and can do all the effects and stuff, minus an extra program.

I tried iStopmotion, but it's way too limited. I created my last stopmotionmovie with a combination of iMovie 08 and iMovie HD.
I think this FrameByFrame is also too limited, but it looks better (especially in price) than iStopmotion.
