Control Winamp Remotely from Any Browser
If you've got a home server running, or just a computer that controls music and video playback, the Simple Help blog has a guide that might make your digital life a little more convenient. Using the free WWWinamp tool, the author details how to set up and control Winamp from any browser, iPod touch/iPhones included. Convenient for controlling movies streamed to your television, music playing during a party, or any other away-from-computer control.

Very Nifty. You could look pretty cool changing the music from your iphone or Ipod at a party where the music is playing through your computer. I'm gonna look into this. It doesn't look as full featured as other web media players I've seen, but still worth a look for sure.

Winamp remote does the same thing, but a lot less configuration from what i see here. You can also stream your music online, allowing other friends to listen to your library. Plus it works with Xbox 360, Wii, and Playstation 3. =]

Anybody know if there is something comparable to this for foobar2000?

great great app!
the database search is blazer! far faster than lame-o 'indexed' vista searching.... as a karaoke/dj with over 150GB of music on an external HD, it will be a great benefit.

I used to use the shoutcast server to stream music from my machine at home. It was actually pretty easy to set up. I installed the server app, and the dsp plugin for winamp and I was running in a few minutes.
I used this program several years ago as well. It hasn't been updated in nearly 7 years, so I don't know how secure or stable it is.
I had completely forgotten about it until this post.

I've configured my keyboard shortcuts to use the numpad to :
play,pause,stop, volume+/-.
And maximize/minimize winamp from/to the tray.
So that covers all of my needs there itself.

@ironman8988: Winamp remote never actually worked for me. Admittedly that was a few versions ago, and it may have been beta at the time - I'll give it another whirl later today.

I've used a similar plugin in the past called AjaxAMP. I found the interface to be a bit prettier. It mimics the (old) default WinAmp look and feel.

For xmms- use ssh + run the command xmms --h.
Then build your own PHP page that runs commandline commands. :P

@mediocrity:
Wow.. thanks. That's really nice and easy to use.
Note: It won't work right out of the box. You have to put in the IP address (127.0.0.1) by going into the plugin configuration. (Ctrl-P -> Plug-ins -> General Purpose -> AjaxAMP Remote Control Plugin -> Configure Selected Plugin.)

I wrote a similar app that runs as a CGI on any webserver: [fladivision.com]
