Download Free Video Workouts for Your iPod
Posted by Adam Pash at 4:00 AM on May 1, 2008

Men's Health magazine online offers four free workout videos that you can download, drag into iTunes, and sync directly to your iPod. The routines range in intensity from the at-home muscle plan—which suggests a circuit of exercises you can do at home—to more gym-focused workouts like the "Ultimate Strength-Boosting" workout. The videos are short and serve more as reminders for how to correctly do the exercises rather than 30-minute as-you-go walkthroughs. For even more free iPod video workouts, check out previously mentioned iPod Gym. The Men's Health videos require a free registration with the site (or quickly stopping the page load before it hides the direct video links).

What would be really useful would be a schedule that would be programmed into your calendar, with motivational alarms combining music (eg eye of the tiger) and slogans...I can't think of any slogans.

If you use Firefox, you can find the links in the Page Info window. Or, like Joseph says, just use BugMeNot (it works fine on the Men's Health site.)

How do you watch/listen to these on your Ipod while you work out? or do you watch them and then work out after?
Seems silly?

I would connect my computer to my tv to watch them while I work out.

The picture on the ipod shows someone using a machine. Why would I use machines if I am trying to get stronger?
Free weights are more effective. Men's Health sucks.

@KillDeer: Probably watch em before, write down some notes on the exercises like sets and reps and then go do it afterwards. I don't think you wanna be watching these while you're in the gym :).

I tried watching these in the gym yesterday and it sucked. You have to turn your music off and you waste too much time between sets fumbling for what you're gonna do next. It's better to get a feel for what's going on, write the workouts down before hand and then hit the gym.

Why would I want to see a ripped shirtless guy on my iPod?

@bms Why wouldn't you want to?
I haven't seen anything that grabs me better than podfitness.com.. although they are not free.

I don't understand why anyone would bother putting this on an iPod except to learn the routine while commuting. The exercises are well described, but the format is instructional not "accompany you on the workout."
To be honest, Men's Health would do better to make the videos full size and really focus on the problem areas of technique with all that screen space rather than produce a podcast that could be replaced by a one-page PDF of still shots...
