iSnooze Turns iTunes into a Must-Wake-Up Alarm
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 12:30 AM on April 25, 2008
Windows only: iSnooze provides the same kind of iTunes-as-alarm-clock functionality as the Mac-only Alarm Clock 2, but lets you get a lot more specific about your wake-up parameters. Wake up to a certain playlist on certain days at particular times, have it pause as soon as you touch something on your computer, gradually increase the volume until you finally wake up—it's your best friend or worst enemy, depending on how important it is that you get up and going in the morning. iSnooze is a free download for Windows systems only.

I looked on the site, but couldn't figure out if iSnooze will wake up a sleeping computer. Does anyone know if iSnooze wakes from sleep to sound an alarm?

I'll add that the code is open-source and available on google code...I switched from windows to osx for my daily computing needs, and I haven't touched iSnooze since. From what I hear it still works, though, so have fun.

it doesn't. people have asked quite a few times...but all requests were after i quit using windows. I always reply politely that the source is available, and if I get a patch I'll even make a new build and installer and whatnot.

Sweet nectar of the gods! I have been unable to find any music playing alarm that will shuffle the songs anywhere! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The only down side is now I'll have to start using iTunes.

This is really not needed. Just use windows Scheduled Tasks (Start -> Settings -> Control Panal -> Scheduled Tasks) and set it to open the MP3.
You have more options, it will wake/login the computer if you need it to. In addition for most people that Scheduled Tasks is already running so you don't need to have another program running.

@Paxtez: Yeah, I did that on the days I wasn't running linux ("at" 4tw) before I wrote iSnooze. It's a poor substitute and annoying as crap and only useful if you wake up the first time around. In college I didn't wake up nearly that easily. I'm lazy, I wouldn't have written the program if it weren't very useful.

Is it just me, or does the alarm go off but not play any music?
