PicasaWebalbumsAssistant Grabs Online Albums from Any System

Windows/Mac/Linux (All Systems): One fine day in the future, Google will release a Picasa client for Mac OS X, making it possible for anyone to upload or download a Picasa Web Album from any system. Until then, tools like Bradley Beach's PicasaWebalbumsAssistant will help a great deal. Beach's Java-based tool lets ou grab either public albums by entering a username, or private albums from an emailed invitation link. Better still, it offers thumbnail previews of the album you're about to download, and you can skip shots you don't need. Combined with the previously-posted, OS X-only Picasa Web Albums Uploader and Exporter (original post), Mac users can easily use Picasa's web features without a long series of file choosing and uploads. PicasaWebalbumsAssistant is a free download that works with any system running Java 5.5 or higher.

Of course loading the RSS for a picasa album into iPhoto would be far too easy.

I actually downloaded the tool today, using which you can upload images from iPhoto to your webalbums, it's called Picasa Web Albums Uploader, you can download for Leopard at Google Labs.

@snowmoon: Well I don't own a mac, and therefore would have a rather hard time knowing what options / interfaces are available for iphoto. All I know is; my dad couldn't download a whole album at once, so I wrote this little utility to do it :) Also, I noticed that a lot of mac users were posting around the internet, frustrated they couldn't download whole albums at once, so I released the program for free for everyone. Had I known this was a trivial task for iphoto, I would have explained to my dad the process and been done with it :). If you could point me to a place that explains the process I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I use google products daily, love most of the functioning but I won't use Picasa for any pictures that I value because of these PICASA TOS:
" By submitting, posting or displaying Content on or through Picasa Web Albums, you grant Google a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt, distribute and publish such Content through Picasa Web Albums, including RSS or other content feeds offered through Picasa Web Albums, and other Google services. In addition, by submitting, posting or displaying Content which is intended to be available to the general public, you grant Google a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt, distribute and publish such Content for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting Google services. "

I would make more use of Picasa web albums if they were to provide a Windows uploader independent of the desktop album software. Some friends have a shared photo album and I occasionally add one or two photos using the web uploader. I tried Picasa once and found that it did bad things to my photos and folders, so I got rid of it and am not going back.
Picasa/Google seem to have the old imperious Microsoft attitude that they will decide what to do with my files.
Since there's a built-in uploader on Picasa, they should just unbundle it and make it available.
