Filter Job Listing by Salary at Indeed
Posted by Gina Trapani at 5:00 AM on April 16, 2008
Previously mentioned job search engine Indeed adds new search criteria for all listings: salary. Enter the position you're interested in with a yearly salary requirement—like web developer $70,000—and Indeed returns listings that match. Most job listings don't mention salary, so Indeed estimates the pay for each by using similar postings that do. Not a perfect system, but still a nice way to avoid wasting time on jobs that are completely out of your payscale. See also how you can compare salaries for a position in a given zip code with Indeed.

I think, in reality, salary is completely open on most jobs. It always was when I was job searching as well hiring for a company.
I'm an ASP/VB/SQL/etc. programmer. But I've run a successful business for 5 years, as well have a design background, and some other things.
In some cases, I bet these auxiliary skills would bring in more salary compared to a candidate that didn't have them- even if they happened to have a higher skill level just on the programming end.
I'm a bit leary of a job posting that lists salary for this reason.
Plus, if you're good enough, and the company thinks they need you... they'll often go off your past salary history. No one likes taking a pay cut, and this ensures that the candidate won't slip out of your hands.

Nice, I've been waiting for this option. Indeed is a great job search engine.

Nice tool really good if you want to know if your company is paying what you really depends, but salary is something difficult to talk about. It depends on a lot of factors, experience, knowledge, resume, how do you sell yourself , etc etc etc sometimes you can negotiate sometimes you can't

Is there a site where I can choose what degree(s) I have and view job titles / job postings I might qualify for?

Wooot, I make considerably more than all the open positions (even the senior level software engineers!), does that mean I should worry about getting fired?
Also I entered in zip codes for 3 different cities and the same jobs showed up for all three.

@qrius: That's hilarious. In Greensboro, "my mother" makes 20K and "your mother" makes 26K.
