Use Jott to Keep a Medical Diary
Web marketer and migraine sufferer Scott Clark is tracking all the daily variables—food, environment, activity, and the like—that surround his attacks with a migraine diary, and he's found text-to-speech services like Jott (original post) are the best hassle-free tool for the job. Not only will Jott (or ReQall or most similar systems) automatically record the date and time of the entries, but it's always accessible by cell phone, and one can create a dedicated "inbox" for migraines to separate the diary from productivity-related uses. For anyone looking to track a diet, health issue, or other things that happen away from the desk, it's worth looking into. Photo by robtxgal.

Or even a workout diary or runner's log... nice idea...

Geez, doing all that might give me a migraine. But I like the concept, maybe for a food diary.

I track my auto mileage to calculate miles/gallon. Everytime I fill up I just record the details to an expense folder. Then, once a quarter view what I'm getting for maileage.
This has been worthwhile to tell when it is time for a tuneup or new spark plugs (mileage going down).
Great service Jott!

I always considered Jott to be more of a "speech-to-text" service...

I had to keep track of several medications after a recent surgery and I actually used backpack to do it. I would enter in the medications and times and then backpack has a nice feature where you can email yourself the page. I would add more meds and then email it back.

Brilliant idea!!! I suffer from headaches every single day. I actually have several different kinds too. I get migraines, I have trigeminal neuralgia and my sinuses are really REALLY bad. It's difficult keeping up with all those freaking headaches and my "headache diary" is never kept properly. I can't believe I never thought of this!

I record my blood sugar, blood pressure and weight. I add them to separate lists and then I can print the batch off for my visit with the doc.

I just wanted to come back and share my modification of this. I use Gmail and my Inbox is often super loaded with schtuff. I decided that I wanted to not only record my headaches, but also other things such as your suggested 'where things are.' Rather than having to tediously label each email as it arrived, I decided to take advantage of Gmail's special email addressing feature [gmailblog.blogspot.com] which allows me to modify my gmail address for certain items. So at Jott I added a Contact named Headache and entered my email address such as myname+headache@gmail.com. I then set up a filter at Gmail to label and archive those messages. This pulls them out of my Inbox clutter and lets me read them at my convenience. I can do this with any set of messages I wish to use. The 'where things are' is myname+locate@gmail.com, now I can find everything!
It's worth noting however that you still may get a confirmation in your Inbox saying your message was delivered. You can either turn that off (Jott > Settings > Email and uncheck Confirmations) or filter that as well.
There are plenty of ideas that can be used. You can Jott/Gmail story ideas if you're a writer, Jott/Gmail To Do list items and so forth. It only takes a second to call and I just LOVE this whole Jott/Gmail thing. :) It can get really addicting.

Another cool way to keep track of diet/health is foodfeed.us using Twitter.
